Low-Pressure Direct Solenoid Operated Cartridge Valves
Many of today’s high-tech equipment and devices require low-pressure pneumatics, including vacuum. That requires valves to take up less space and mass within the device, making portable applications possible, too. Traditional pneumatic directional control valves aren’t usually suitable for those applications as their minimum operating pressure begins at 25-30 psi. Humphrey’s cartridge solenoid valves are designed with those requirements in mind.
Innovations in Valve Design
Low-pressure pneumatic applications present opportunities for lighter materials, thinner walls, reduced noise and smaller solenoids. The valve’s internal design is ideal for tight sealing and media control flexibility. Tailoring the valve design exclusively to low-pressure applications adds value for designers and end users in the form of space savings, weight reduction and overall system efficiency.
Cartridge Valve Opportunities
Space is a premium as equipment and devices continue to shrink. Off-the-shelf solenoid valves have electrical and piping connections limited to specific locations on the valve and aren’t always designed to minimize the occupied space in a system. With cartridge valves, pneumatic port routing can be customized and designed into the valve’s manifold and fitting and tubing count is reduced or eliminated.
Additionally, a cartridge valve’s low internal volume enhances system efficiency. The internal volume required for port threads and the pneumatic fitting can be eliminated. That’s essential for precision applications, such as dosing a specific amount of gas media.
