Diaphragm Poppet Valves: Cannot Stick, Will Not Leak

Diaphragm Poppet Valves feature our exclusive moniker “valves that cannot stick and will not leak,” making them perfect for difficult and critical pneumatic applications.

Whether your challenge is reliability in dirty, moisture-laden compressed air systems, maintaining the integrity of pure, clean media throughout your processing, or any need in between Diaphragm Poppet valves are a smart choice.

Here’s why. The most common valve problems for users are failure to shift and unacceptable leakage, both of which result from changes in internal valve friction. Diaphragm Poppet valves are, by design, frictionless.

That’s why they have been applied in a broad range of pneumatic and even fluid-handling applications, like no other valve:

  • Medical & Scientific: Inert internal construction seals tight for clean and alternate media.
  • Petrochemical: Simple design lasts longer in harsh environments / demanding media.
  • Industrial Automation: Rugged, reliable valve construction withstands difficult conditions.
  • Transportation: Long history of reliability in extreme conditions and climates.
  • Food and Beverage: Performs well with moisture-laden air without sticking.

Diaphragm Poppet Valve Series

How Diaphragm-Poppet Valves Work

Energy of compressed air media to the SUPPLY port fills the bottom cavity and underside of the bottom diaphragm, causing the poppet to seal in the mating valve seat. Valve will not leak.

Valve actuation overcomes force to the underside of the bottom diaphragm. Valve opens flow to the COMMON port, achieving high flow without sliding seals. Valve cannot stick.

Releasing valve actuation permits the bottom diaphragm to begin closing. Forces of supply air and exhausting air to the underside of the top diaphragm assist the rapid position change, creating a “Quick Dump” feature to EXHAUST port. Plug the exhaust port for an outstanding 2-port valve that checks downstream reverse flow and seals tight.

This simple concept features high shifting forces, tight sealing at rest and when actuated, and an inert, frictionless construction that does not rely on air lubrication or factory greases.

The design can also be prepared for excellent vacuum service. Withstands ingesting the ambient environment when destructing vacuum pressure. “The greater the vacuum, the tighter the seal.”

Benefits of Diaphragm Poppet Valves

Our unique design is superior to other valve offerings. Benefits:

  • Inert to media
  • Impervious to compressed air quality
  • No lubricant required
  • Tight sealing
  • Low-cost, no-maintenance, trouble-free performance

Diaphragm Poppet Solenoid Valves

Design incorporates a small onboard three-way solenoid valve to pilot operate our Diaphragm-Poppet valve. Results in high shifting forces, fast cycling and long life. Sizes include 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 Pipe.

Models available include:

  • Internal Air Pilot pneumatic 2, 3 & 4-way
  • External Air Pilot 2 & 3 way, for low-pressure pneumatic and mild fluids
  • External Air Pilot 2 & 3 way for vacuum service
  • External Air Pilot Stainless Steel, 1/4 Pipe 2 & 3 way for more aggressive media

Diaphragm Poppet Remote Air Piloted Valves

Excellent choice when control of clean dry air or alternate media, by “dirtier” industrial air is necessary. Proven as a “slave” valve, safely locking out functions while others are active. Our most simple, cost-effective model. Sizes include 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 Pipe.

Models available include:

  • Remote Air Pilot 2, 3 & 4-way, Normally Closed and Normally Open
  • Exclusive “AA” Principle 3 & 4-way for rapid momentary pilot, maintained position applications
  • Air Pilot 2 & 3-way Interface Valves for capable of actuation from ultra-low pilot signals
  • Remote Air Pilot 2 & 3-way for vacuum service
  • Remote Air Pilot Stainless Steel, 1/4 Pipe 2 & 3 way for more aggressive media

Diaphragm Poppet Manual & Mechanical Valves

Excellent choice for rugged, industrial environments where low maintenance and reliability are required. Detented “Toggle” valves are widely spec’d as tight sealing shut-off valves that de-energize equipment and fixturing when not in use.

Diaphragm Poppet 2, 3 & 4-Way Models include:

  • Pushbutton, Lever, Palm Button, Foot Operated Manual Valves
  • Plunger, Roller Cam, Roller Ball Mechanical Valves
  • Valves prepared for vacuum service
  • Stainless Steel, 1/4 Pipe 2 & 3-way Detented Lever type for more aggressive media
