Humphrey Products is a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of fluid control components targeting the medical device, instrumentation, automation, transportation, and material handling markets.  

We have several direct hire Assembly positions available on our second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:30 pm to 1:30 am. Pay range is $15.00 to $19.00 an hour, dependent on relative experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or five (5) + years relevant work experience

  • Strong written and oral communications skills

  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and email applications (Outlook, Lotus Notes)

  • Intermediate to advanced data analytical skills

  • Experience or strong familiarity working within an ERP / MRP manufacturing environment

  • Experience with margin and variance analysis

  • Understanding of inventory analysis including overhead rates, absorption, standard and current costs

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintain standard costs (material, labor, and overhead rates)

  • Monitor and understand production and inventory variances

  • Analyze and monitor inventory obsolescence 

  • Regularly review and monitor under / over absorbed

  • Regularly trend and analyze sales, COS, and inventory data

  • Support the new product development process as needed

  • Support cycle count process, reports, and location

  • Monitor and maintain accounts 20110 Accrued Accounts Payable and 20110.0003 Material Return to Vendor

  • Post accounting batches, review GL for data integrity, make adjustments with audit trail when necessary

  • Hourly and agency monthly labor accrual, agree labor reporting to actual

  • Assist and support 3rd party audits (annual financial audit and quality audits)

  • Seek professional continuous education for self

  • Assist and support Quality Systems

Humphrey Products is searching for a Design Engineer for the design and development of valves and valve systems to meet the needs of our customer in applications such as medical, instrumentation, distribution and food products. 

The individual must have the ability to act independently, confidently and with a sense of urgency, while handling a variety of engineering project challenges. This candidate will lead assigned new foundation product development projects and represent the Engineering Department, with external customers and internal production teams. 

There will be occasional travel to meet program objectives associated with suppliers, external customer and other items. If you are looking for a fast-paced setting, working with a team of dedicated peers, to tackle challenging engineer projects, this job may be a great fit for you.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Concept & Design New Products

    • Translate customer and or marketing requirements into product designs drawings and documents.

      • Submit designs and supporting documents for Patents when appropriate.

    • Assure new designs meets objectives for:

      • Product Performance & Durability

      • Manufacturability & Quality

      • Compliance to UL, REACH, RoHS, IPC, etc. if required

      • Safety

      • Cost and Timing

  • Develop New Products

    • Develop and supply prototypes.

    • Develop testing plans for validation and durability.

    • Conduct validation and durability testing.

    • Write final test reports to demonstrate product meets objectives for performance and durability etc. 

  • Hold Milestone Meeting

    • Conduct cross functional meetings for Design Reviews.

    • Product and Process concept and planning meetings.

  • Support Developing Project Budgets

    • Works with Project Manager and other team members to develop project budgets.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BSME or BSEE in Engineering required.

  • 3 years of experience in product design preferred.

  • Fluid Power components design experience a major plus.

  • Experience in process engineering a plus.

  • Solid Modeling CAD experience with Solid Edge, Solidworks, or equivalent.

  • CFD modeling experience a plus.

  • Experience with DFMEA, GD&T, DOE, and Statistics.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Team focused with effective interpersonal and written communication skills.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.

Reports to: Quality Manager

General Job Description: The Engineering/Quality Document Systems Administrator works with all functions to maintain the relevance of the Humphrey document management system for procedures, work instructions and form control. In addition, maintaining and continuous improvement of the REACH/RoHS compliance system, engineering and quality metrics for ECO, scrap, and other systems. Further this role will be involved in developing & improving metric monitoring and reporting systems for engineering and quality departments.

Responsibilities

  1. Engineering/Quality Document Systems Administrator assures Humphrey Products QSI document systems for procedures, work instructions and form control are maintained and updated as appropriate based on ISO changes and internal continuous improvement.
  2. Maintain and improve current REACH and RoHS system for materials compliance.
  3. Assess new systems and coordinate implementation of a new REACH and RoHS system for materials compliance.
  4. Become an ISO Lead Auditor in the Humphrey system.
  5. Support auditor training and materials development with the quality supervisor.
  6. Develop new monitoring and presentation systems for key engineering and quality metrics.

Job Requirements

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (grammar, spelling, language usage, etc.)
  2. Excellent diplomacy in the face of organizational differences of opinion and priorities.
  3. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  4. Some travel during the year for professional development and supplier audits.
  5. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Machinist

Set-up and Operation/Milling and Turning

Humphrey Products Company, a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of pneumatic valves and control components used in industries such as medical, instrumentation, distribution, agriculture and transportation has openings in the Machining Department’s 2nd shift which consists of four 10-hour days (M-Th/3:30 pm to 1:30 am). 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must be able to operate multi-axis CNC equipment, read blueprints, use basic machining gages, and understand standard machining terminology and principles. 

  • Must be able to set up machines and work with a defined process to produce quality products.  

  • Must be able to demonstrate good judgement in decision making and problem solving.

  • Special consideration will be given to applicants for: extensive knowledge of cutting tool technology, speed and feed selection, process control techniques, GD&T and leadership experience.

We are seeking part-time interns to join our engineering group. We are seeking full-time students at junior level in an accredited engineering program. The intern will work a set schedule of approximately 15 - 20 hours per week coordinated with each semester’s classes and approximately 40 hours during summer and winter school breaks.    

Internship will provide students with hands-on engineering experience in a variety of engineering functions progressive with skills, software and laboratory work is included.

Candidates should have strong technical and problem-solving skills with an interest in industrial automation. CAD experience and SolidWorks or Solid Edge knowledge is desired. Entry-level employment opportunities are based on intern’s proven ability.

Humphrey Products Company is a Kalamazoo-based manufacturer of pneumatic valves and control components used in industries such as medical, instrumentation, distribution, agriculture, and transportation has an opportunity for a Sales Engineer.

The Sales Engineer/Manager is responsible for identifying new sales opportunities with both Distribution and OEM customers. They ensure that the customers’ expectations are met during the sales process and documents sale activities via the Humphrey Products Contact Manager. They are the primary interface/liaison between the customer and the greater organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop new customers, applications, and markets with a concentration on the Life Science Markets within the region.

  • Provide support to existing customers and distributors within the region.

  • Evaluate existing distributors based on performance, the introduction of new potential opportunities, provide Humphrey Products support in prospective sales data gathering. Search for new distributors in underperforming territories.
    • Provide pre-sales application engineering services to accounts within the territory and coordinate additional services to be provided by the engineering team.
    • Execute sales and marketing strategies.

    • Perform demonstrations of product capabilities and features.
  • Perform fieldwork with distributors and direct OEM customers to present new products and potential ES remedies to customers. Provide direct contact with prospective customers for opportunities best handled on a direct basis.

    • Provide feedback and input to internal product management and development team.

    • Provide weekly activity reports to company management via the Contact Manager.

    • Create/Maintain New Business Opportunities via the contact manager.

    • Provide monthly forecast information via the Sales Representative Performance Reports.

Travel:

  • Up to 70% within region.

  • Kalamazoo office (4-6 times per year).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years professional engineering experience including 2+ years application / customer facing engineering experience with pneumatic or hydraulic electromechanical components and/or systems.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical or Controls). Additional Business/Entrepreneurship focus, or degree preferred.

  • Strong people skills, enjoys and excels at building and maintaining relationships.

  • Strong computer-based communication tools acumen.

  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills. Able to prepare and deliver technical presentations.

  • Enjoys working closely with small teams (work with engineers, project planners, production planners, to ensure we are not wasting time to bring products to fruition and deliver to customers).

  • Enjoys working from a home office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Humphrey Products—a private, mid-size, Kalamazoo-based designer and manufacturer of precision pneumatic valves and fluid control systems—is seeking a full-time intern to join its Supply Chain team.

The Intern will learn the fundamentals of Supply Chain through a combination of tactical support assignments (approximately 25%) and project oriented assignments (approximately 75%). S/he will gain the communication and etiquette skills required in business while sharing knowledge gained from recent course work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:
