Quick Exhaust Valves
Quick exhaust valves are popular components in pneumatic systems based on their versatility. They can sense pressure differentials and respond by redirecting downstream compressed air to an exhaust port. These valves are most commonly used to air cylinders, by redirecting exhausting air to increase or improve the control of its cycling speeds.
Humphrey’s Quick Exhaust Series boasts an engineered molded rubber shuttle that outperforms traditional designs. They’re available in seven models, from miniature 10-32 UNF to large 3/4 size. Besides their quick exhaust function, they can also be used as shuttle valves, check valves and cylinder speed controllers.

Super Quick Exhaust Series
Our Super Quick Exhaust Series is renowned for its reliability and long life. Its durable rubber shuttle flexes easily with forward flow and responds instantaneously to reroute downstream air with as little as 1 psi pressure differential. This series includes six models and optional FKM seal material for chemical and temperature compatibility.

TAC Miniature Quick Exhaust Valves
Humphrey’s TAC Miniature Quick Exhaust Valves are compact, 10-32 UNF ported solutions. The total air control system of valves, operators and auxiliary components is designed for small air logic controls and offers reliable, high-speed air venting and efficient pneumatic performance in space-constrained applications.
Choosing the Right Quick Exhaust Valve for Your Application
It’s important to consider the required flow capacity and potential for pressure variations in your application when selecting a quick exhaust valve. Flow rate influences cylinder speed and quick exhaust performance. An undersized quick exhaust valve may restrict performance, while an oversized component can malfunction.
Quick Exhaust Valve FAQs
When mounted near or at its point of use, quick exhaust valves redirect exhausting air of downstream cylinders, actuators and pressure vessels. Its high-flow capacity third port can increase cycling speeds and control for greater performance.
Yes. Pneumatic cylinders, slides and rotary actuators are the most common uses for quick exhaust valves for accelerating cycling speeds and improving speed control.
Quick exhaust valves are simple components with few parts that offer an extended service life. However, if you notice sluggish performance or continuous leakage at the third port, it may be time for a repair kit. Not available for the miniature SQE.
Exhaust ports can emit noise during operation due to their high flow rates. Consider installing exhaust port mufflers.
Yes. You can use a Quick Exhaust Valve to plug the third port for a check valve function. Quick exhaust can be used as shuttle valves; however, users should expect the returning air from the common port to be routed to the third port. When restricting air at the third port, the quick exhaust function can also be used as a pneumatic flow controller.
Improperly sized quick exhaust valves can malfunction, particularly when their flow capacity is greater than what’s required by the air cylinder.
