Humphrey’s Balanced Valve Features and Benefits

Our balanced valve series can provide consistent performance and protection from environmental contaminants in challenging operating conditions. Each valve is universal and suitable for different applications, making it an extremely versatile component for different functions.

Valve Function Capabilities

The pressure balanced direct solenoid internal construction offers comprehensive benefits at an affordable price.

The multi-purpose design can be piped as a 2- and 3-way valve for the following functions:

  • 2- and 3-way normally closed and open
  • Diverter
  • Selector

Our 4-way valves are suitable for:

  • Directional control
  • 3-way normally closed and open
  • Diverter
  • Selector

Balanced Valve Specs

These valves are available in 2-, 3- and 4-port designs with an optional IP67 rating, providing environmental dust and moisture resistance. The multi-purpose pressure-balanced design allows for normally closed and open functions, as well as diverter and selector applications.

Additional valve features include:

  • Mounting options: Inline and manifold
  • Sizes: 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 PIPE
  • Vacuum pressure: 0 to 25” Hg
  • Compressed air: 0-125 PSI
  • Inert gases: 0-125 PSI
  • Flow capacity: 15-72 SCFM at 100 PSI (based on valve size)
  • Optional FKM elastomers (NBR standard)

Benefits of Using a Balanced Valve

Tight sealing: Whether activated or at rest, a balance valve must have a tight seal to prevent leaks and wasted media. The internal forces generated by pressurized media are neutralized, allowing the poppet to seal to specific leakage specifications. Our valves feature some of the lowest leak rates in the pneumatic valve industry.

High flow capacity: Coupled with the balanced design and an optimized solenoid magnetic circuit, our balanced valves offer significantly greater internal flow management within a compact design.

Multimedia handling capabilities: The balanced poppet design performs efficiently whether the end users’ pressurized media is stable or fluctuating, clean or dirty or dry or lubricated. It is an excellent option for equipment designers.

Easy to use: Electric and pneumatic connections are on opposing surfaces to minimize the total space occupied and simplify mounting during installation.
