Control Difficult Media with Humphrey’s New Stainless Steel Diaphragm-Poppet Valve
Our innovative diaphragm-poppet valves are now available in stainless steel models to control aggressive liquid and gas media. These 2- and 3-port valves are available in solenoid-air pilot operated, remote-air pilot operated and detented lever operated.
Stainless Steel Valve Models
Detented Lever (SSB250V): The manually operated 3-port detented lever valve controls mild and aggressive gas and liquid media. It functions well as a shut-off valve with a positive detent in closed and open positions. A pipe plug is included for a 2-port valve function that offers tight sealing in its closed position.
Remote Air Pilot (SSB250A): This valve can handle aggressive media near the point of use and is an excellent choice for hazardous and difficult environments. The remote operated design has high flow capacity and tight sealing. It comes with a pipe plug for use as a 2- or 3-port configuration.
External Air Pilot Solenoid (SSB250AE1): Control mild and aggressive gas and liquid media with our solenoid-air pilot operator. This valve is available in normally open and closed designs that provide reliable sealing and high flow capacity. The external air pilot solenoid can operate as a 2- or 3-port valve.

Remote air pilot:
- Port size: 1/4 NPT (Pilot port: 1/8 NPSF)
- Function: Normally closed or open; 2- or 3-way
- Max flow: 1100 LPM at 60 PSI
External air pilot solenoid:
- Port size: 1/4 NPT (Pilot port: 10-32 UNF)
- Function: Normally closed or open; 2- or 3-way
- Max flow: 1100 LPM at 60 PSI
- Voltage: 12VDC, 24VDC or 120VAC
Each valve type is compatible with several elastomers, including tetrafluoroethylene propylene (FEPM), ethylene-propylene diene monomer (EPDM), fluoroelastomer (FKM) and nitrile butadiene (NBR).

How Our Stainless Steel Diaphragm-Poppet Valve Works
In a 2-port configuration, pressurized media to Port 1 fills the bottom cavity and below the diaphragm poppet, creating a natural tight seal while at rest. Once actuated, the force applied above the top diaphragm causes the valve to shift, opening the flow path from Port 1 to Port 2. Once the force is removed from above the top diaphragm, the valve shifts instantaneously back to its closed position.
Our stainless steel diaphragm-poppet valves can also work in a 3-port configuration, including dual pressure, dual media selector or diverter valve function. The valve’s high shifting force allows for cycle reliability and excellent sealing.
