Humphrey iDP Series: High-Flow Inert Diaphragm-Poppet Valves for Aggressive Media

Humphrey iDP valves control the most aggressive liquid and gas media. The diaphragm separated direct solenoid operated design is simple and reliable with a proven ability to control chemicals and reagents used in medical and analytical equipment.

The inert internal construction offers a variety of benefits, including options for media compatibility, high flow capacity, tight sealing and more. The high force solenoid operator shifts against a strong return spring for fast cycling and positive shut-off.  The coil is encapsulated and suitable for wet environments.

Inert Material Construction

The wetted flow path consists of the diaphragm poppet elastomer and a Radel body that offers chemical resistance to acids, bases and solvents. The rugged design can also withstand degradation over time.

You can choose from FKM, EPDM and FFKM diaphragm-poppet elastomers for best media compatibility and isolation from the encapsulated coil. The FFKM elastomer features even greater chemical-resistant properties for the most difficult fluids.

iDP solenoid valves are suitable for a wide range of harsh media control, including but not limited to:

  • Blood and bodily fluids
  • Lye
  • Bleach
  • Formaldehyde
  • Saline solutions
  • Ethyl and methyl alcohol
  • Dextrose
  • Dialysate

The iDP also offers stability in hot operating conditions and temperatures up to 200° F (95° C), such as those in sterilization applications.

High-Flow Capacity Models

Humphrey’s iDP valve’s streamlined flow path yields high flow capacity and minimal pressure drop. Valve bodies are available in various port configurations, offering flexibility in application and customization.

Our two valve types are available in inline/direct piping and subbase/manifold piping:

350/351 series:   2-port, normally closed function

370/371 series:   3-port, diverter and selector function

Each iDP valve can deliver up to 225 LPM gas (tested with air) and 5.3 LPM (liquid water).

Rugged Design

The encapsulated and impregnated solenoid operator is isolated from the environment and media, allowing it to withstand humid and moisture-laden environments. The high force, durable design supports consistent performance for millions of cycles, enhancing its service life and reducing your operating costs.

Strong Return Spring

The powerful coil overcomes a strong return spring for a fast, reliable shift. At rest, the spring compresses the poppet into its seat, ensuring the valve seats and seals efficiently. The tight seal prevents leaks when the valve is at rest, even for extended periods.

Quiet Cycling

Noise reduction is essential for medical and analytical applications. Our iDP valves feature a noise-dampening method that reduces mechanical noise emissions via the armature when the valve opens. The diaphragm poppet limits the stroke when closing to avoid mechanical clicks.

Applications for Solenoid Valves

Humphrey’s iDP solenoid valves are effective in the following applications:

  • Hemodialysis
  • Equipment sterilization
  • Water purification
  • Clinical chemistry
  • Infusion systems
  • Gas and chemical delivery
  • Ventilation and respiration
